SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH BENEVOLENCE MINISTRY APPLICATION
Purpose and Limits of Benevolence Assistance: To offer temporary relief to individuals or families during a time of hardship or crisis by assisting with basic needs. Generally, assistance from the Benevolence Ministry Fund is intended to cover an individual’s or family’s basic needs i.e., lodging, food, clothing, and utilities. Depending on the circumstances, assistance may include a listing of resources for financial counseling, training in household budgeting and/or debt management, or other financial education remedies, that would help the individual or family avoid potential hardships or crises in the future.
Requirements for Benevolence Assistance: 1. Members of Second Baptist Church of Ypsilanti 2. Employees of Second Baptist Church of Ypsilanti 3. Members of the Community (Washtenaw County) - $200.00 maximum 4. Requestor/Applicant must be 18 years or older 5. Benevolence Application must be filled out completely. 6. All documentation of need must be provided with application (bill, eviction, etc.) 7. Must present a valid form of ID (Driver’s license, State ID, Passport, or Military ID) 8. Requestor/Applicant must provide two agency denial letters. 9. Requestor/Applicant must sign Benevolence Application. 10. Benevolence Application must be turned into Second Baptist Church of Ypsilanti office
Needs that WILL NOT be covered by Benevolence Fund: 1. Paying off credit cards. 2. Business investments and/or debts. 3. Gambling debts. 4. Needs of individuals wanted by the law or Paying fines as a result of breaking the law. 5. Legal fees arising from criminal behavior. 6. Housing for unmarried couples. 7. School tuition and/or fees. 8. Funeral expenses.
If assistance is granted/approved, SBC will not disburse funds by cash. All checks will be written to business entity after verification of amount owed is verified. Processing, verification, and notification of application may take up to 7 business days.
After completed application is submitted through Second’s church office, all further communication, information, status, etc. will be conveyed directly from the Benevolence Ministry Committee. A ministry representative will inform applicant of the committee’s decision as soon as possible. Please note you can only receive assistance from SBC once every 12 months.
The terms and conditions of this agreement are confidential between the parties and shall not be disclosed to anyone else, in any manner or form directly or indirectly, to any person except as shall be necessary to effectuate its terms.
